1. Land Price
Land prices vary with location, size and accessibility. Prices are most expensive in areas close to Phuket but can range from several hundred dollars a square metre to less than USD 10 a square metre for emerging locations.
2. Property Ownership
Land ownership rules vary from country to country; for example, on leasehold title, Cambodia and Malaysia allow 99-year terms whilst lease terms in Vietnam are 70 years. Thailand permits leases of 30 years, which can be structured for multiple terms. The purchase of an island is not an everyday affair and availability is not advertised widely and, in some instances, is not advertised at all.
