The Appeal of Koh Samui
Koh Samui emerged as a resort destination during the 1980s and was previously accessed by ferry from Suratthani. Over the past decade, Koh Samui has established itself as one of the leading island resort destinations in South-East Asia. Its continued growth is largely attributable to Bangkok Airways’ expansion which helped position Koh Samuias a boutique resort destination. Bangkok Airways also owns and operates Koh Samui Airport, a unique tropical-styled airport which gives a great sense of arrival to the island.
Koh Samui offers a truly tropical lifestyle, with a good range of leisure activities and amenities including a golf course, diving and water sports, as well as a wide choice of dining and entertainment options. There is a clear trend that Koh Samui is moving upmarket, similar to Phuket, as the island increasingly attracts five-star hotel chains.
