Asia Pacific Investment – Activity Picks Up

By on Aug 24, 2015 in Property News, Research

The Asia Pacific investment market turned more active in Q2 2015 after a quiet start to the year. Cross-border investment  remained a firm trend. Singaporeans are the biggest intra-regional investors.

Further accommodative easing policies are expected in the second half of 2015, but to a lesser extent than in the first half of the year. The low interest rate environment and lack of investable stock in the region means some investors are entering into structured debt deals as an alternative way to invest in the real estate market.

Institutional investors continue to seek core office assets. In the retail sector, investor interest faded in several major markets due to weaker fundamentals. This also filtered through into the industrial sector. Pricing and intense competition for core product is spurring investors to pursue other ways of investing, such as portfolio deals and funds in the industrial sector.
