Condominiums lead city housing transfers

The number of housing units transferred in Greater Bangkok last year rose 3% to 156,300 units, with condominiums comprising the largest proportion, according to the Real Estate Information Center.

Condo unit transfers totalled about 66,700 units, accounting for 43%. They were followed by townhouses with 46,000 units (29%) and single houses with 26,700 units (17%).

The five districts with the largest number of transfers of new condos were Bang Kapi, Phra Khanong, Muang in Nonthaburi, Bang Sue and Nonthaburi’s Pak Kret rounding out the list.

The average size of condo units transferred last year was 29.9 square metres in Bangkok and 31.1 sq m in five provinces neighbouring the city.

For new low-rise units, the top five districts were Muang and Bang Phli in Samut Prakan, Lam Luk Ka in Pathum Thani, Muang in Samut Sakhon and Muang in Pathum Thani.

Second-hand low-rise units were most popular in Bang Kapi, Muang in Samut Prakan, Bang Bua Thong in Nonthaburi, Bang Khun Thien and Lam Luk Ka in Pathum Thani.
