Condominiums near the skytrain extension line in Thon Buri have proved popular, with an average take-up rate of 78%, as they are cheaper than locations close to the central business district.  Samma Kitsin, director-general of the Real Estate Information Center (REIC), said the line, opened in 2009, has drawn property developers to create condo projects. Sales have flourished because unit prices are lower than those across the river in the Sathon-Silom area.

“Locations near Bang Wa and Wutthakat stations are on the outskirts, but passengers take only 20-25 minutes to get to Siam station,” he are lower than those across the river in the Sathon-Silom area. “Locations near Bang Wa and Wutthakat stations are on the outskirts, but passengers take only 20-25 minutes to get to Siam station,” he said.  In the near future, the Bang Wa station area will attract more developers and buyers, as it will be an interchange for the Green and Blue lines between Hua Lamphong and Bang Kae, said Mr Samma.

Second most popular was the Wutthakat station area with 3,800 units from seven projects and a sales rate of 70%. Unit prices were 65,000 to 86,000 baht per sq m.
