New Bangkok Train Line to Run from August to boost property investment

By on Jan 08, 2016 in Hotel-Tourism, Property News

Bangkok property investment is set for a boost with the new purple line running with electric trains from Nonthaburi’s Bang Yai district to Bang Sue district in Bangkok. The operational testing is now in progress. The service will be launched in August said Chartchai Thipsunawee, permanent secretary for transport. Mr Chartchai was pleased to announce that when the service is provided it will become the 4th electric train line in Thailand and the first route to connect Bangkok’s suburbs with inner areas.

There are 4 more electric train lines which will continue to be under construction this year and there are a further 6 which will enter into the construction bidding phase. Mr Chartchai confirmed that in 2017 construction will commence for another 4 lines. These should be completed in 2022.

Regarding the well publicised delays to various projects Mr Chartchai said electric train projects have faced difficulties in finding train operators and procuring locomotives and carriages after construction has been completed.

From now until 2019 there are 10 rail routes planned. In the long term this is great news for the city, but in the meantime people living and working in Bangkok should expect to continue to face heavy traffic particularly where construction is underway.
