By on Dec 17, 2009 in Hotel-Tourism

Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited recently released November statistics.

International passenger disembarkations at Suvarnabhumi Airport were 1,368,833 in November 2009 compared to 1,023,014 in November 2008 (Suvarnabhumi Airport was closed from November 25th in 2008 after anti-government protestors occupied the airport).

The year on year increase was 34% which was a significant improvement even allowing for the fact that Suvarnabhumi Airport was closed for 20% of November.

Phuket international disembarkations were 115,134 in November 2009 compared to 113,325 in November 2008.

There has been an apparent surge in domestic traffic with 463,414 domestic passengers disembarking at Suvarnabhumi in November 2009 compared to 256,935 in 2008.

Phuket Domestic disembarkations were 162,398 compared to 115,435 in November 2008.

Despite a global recession and Thailand’s political problems earlier in the year there seems to be a recovery in passenger numbers both international and especially domestic travel.

Overall international disembarkations at Suvarnabhumi were 12,904,679 for the first 11 months of the year compared to 14,257,336 for the first 11 months of 2008 only a 9% drop.
