Phuket retail giant, Jungceylon, is planning more marketing and shops.

Prawit Janyasittikul, chief executive officer of Phuket Square Co, the operator of Jungceylon Shopping Destination, said yesterday that the company would also add more magnets at the complex after spending Bt50 million to renovate three zones – Phuket Square, Sino Phuket and Silang Boulevard. It is also expanding space at Robinson Department Store.

Some more international brands have opened such as Swarovski, Pandora, The Coffee Club, Cath Kidston, Cafe Fish and MNG.

A Wi-Fi network has also been installed throughout the complex to appeal to mobile Internet users.

The new magnets and shops are expected to draw more foreign tourists. About 70 per cent of visitors are foreign tourists and expats, mostly from Asia (45 per cent), Europe and the United States (20 per cent), the Middle East (10 per cent) and the rest from China, Australia and Japan.

“The additional shops are expected to boost traffic by 30 per cent from the current 50,000-55,000 per day and also average spending from Bt3,500-Bt4,000 to Bt5,000 per tourist.
