IEAT exceeds fiscal 2013 land sales target The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) has reported better-than-expected land sales for the fiscal year ended Sept 30.

Chairman Witoon Simachokedee said the IEAT sold 5,609 rai of land in fiscal 2013, beating the target of 5,000 rai.

Of the total,5,557 rai are in industrial estates jointly owned by the IEAT and the rest in its wholly owned estates.

Thailand has 49 industrial estates operating in 15 provinces including 13 under development.

The IEAT has 12,881 rai of land left for sale.

“IEAT policies will move forward regardless of the political situation to ensure investments do not stall,” said Mr Witoon, also the industry permanent secretary.

“The political unrest may affect investment, but the IEAT’s budget for fiscal 2014 has already been approved, and we’ll move forward with our policies.”

The IEAT plans to develop 13 new estates  four for small and mediumsized enterprises in the four regions, one logistics estate in Chiang Rai’s Chiang Khong district and another eight sites in the northeastern provinces of Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Mukdahan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom and Nong Khai.

The focus will be on the automotive, electronics and agriculture sectors, with the proposed projects covering 14,163 rai.

Developers will be awarded 10 million baht from the IEAT to build a 500-squaremetre one-stop service unit for each project with a two-year waiver of administration fees.

Mr Witoon said 13 project developers have passed the initial requirements, and the IEAT will announce the winners this month.
