Thailand Industry – Accounts for 11% of Myanmar’s Border Trade

Thailand accounted for about 11 per cent of Myanmar’s total border trade in the first five months of this fiscal year, according to the Myanmar Commerce Ministry. Trade via the seven border checkpoints with Thailand totalled US$277 million (Bt8.94 billion) between April 1 and the end of August, while overall border trade was $2.458 billion, the ministry said.

Myanmar has a total of 15 trade checkpoints along its borders with Thailand, China, India and Bangladesh. The seven checkpoints with Thailand are Tachileik, Kengtung, Myawaddy, Kawthaung, Myeik, Nabulal/Htee Khee and Mawtaung.
