Encouraged by the success of its properties in Hat Yai and Pattaya, Tune Hotels is opening its first hotel in Bangkok on October 1 to promote its “pay-as-you-use” concept, which it says is popular among travellers across the world.

Tune Hotel Asoke is set to be a landmark achievement for the company in Thailand in its efforts to become a recognisable, reputable player in one of Asia’s most developed tourism economies, said Mark Lankester, group chief executive officer of Tune Hotels.

“Tune Hotel Asoke is very important to us as it marks our presence in Bangkok, one of the world’s most visited cities. With thousands of home-grown and international hotel brands spread across the city, it’s everyone’s dream to be part of Bangkok’s thriving tourism industry.

“With Tune Hotels’ innovative concept and highly competitive pricing, we are confident of providing visitors to Bangkok a world-class accommodation that offers great value and great savings,” he said.

Under the “pay-as-you-use” concept, room rates are set according to the optional services added by the guests themselves, amenities such as towels and toiletries, air-conditioning, in-room Wi-Fi and satellite TV entertainment.

To celebrate the opening of Tune Hotels Asoke, rooms are now open for booking from as low as Bt100 per night for stays from October through next May. Tune Hotels is also extending the special promotion to its other hotels in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines, where rooms are available for booking from the equivalent of only 12 ringgit (Bt120) a night for stays between January and May next year.

Tune Hotels is part of Tune Group, a lifestyle business conglomerate co-founded by Tony Fernandes and Kamarudin Meranun, who are the group CEO and deputy group CEO respectively of Asia’s largest low-cost carrier, AirAsia.

Tune Hotel Asoke will have 130 rooms. It is the global brand’s third property in Thailand and the first in central Bangkok.

“Our central location on bustling Sukhumvit Road provides easy accessibility for shopping, entertainment and dining – an ideal location for our savvy travellers,” Lankester said. “We anticipate a great response from visitors to Bangkok, especially from Asia and Europe, where guests have become accustomed to and are familiar with our brand and concept.

“For Tune Hotels, we have always held a long-term commitment towards Thailand as we firmly believe in its economic resilience and robustness. We have planned for more hotels in the Land of Smiles and next up will be the resort island of Phuket,” he said.
